Tortitas de Atun y papa/ Tuna and potatoes balls

My mother made these tortitas growing up. They are cheap and delicious pero con una salsita on top mm...mm...mm. Can you say DELICIOSO. Enjoy!

Tortitas de Atun
about 10 tortitas

  • 6 potatoes any kind
  • 1 can of tuna but if you would like more of the tuna taste put in 2
  • 1 onion chopped
  • Half a stick of butter
  • Salt & Pepper for taste
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups of bread crumbs I like the ones that have herb flavors
  • Oil to fry the Tortitas. I like using Olive Oil
  • Chopped cilantro about 1/4 of a cup
  1. Peel the potatoes and Boil them. About 20 minutes or when the fork goes in all the way. Drain the water and mash them in a big enough bowl where all the ingredients will fit.
  2. Add in butter, salt, pepper, beaten eggs, tuna, cilantro, onion and bread crumbs. Mix well
  3. Now time to make the rounded tortitas about the size of crab cakes
  4. Fry the tortitas in your hot oil I only put enough oil to cover half of the tortitas because I don't want to waste oil so I add if needed. Wait like 2 to 3 minutes and flip them over.
  5. Get them out and put them on a plate with a napkin underneath to soak up the oil.
  6. Enjoy!! You can enjoy the tortitas with a side salad and drizzle salsa on top of them.
